Routine Dental Treatment

We perform standard preventative and diagnostic procedures, including cleanings, periodontal maintenance treatment, sealants and fluoride varnishes.

Digital X-Rays

Digital radiography is one of the newer technologies of the dental office. A small sensor is placed in the patients mouth and, instantly, with up to 90% less radiation than non-digital, the x-ray is taken. The x-ray can be viewed immediately, under magnification, to help with diagnosing problems is a faster, safer manner. We also use lead aprons with thyroid collars.

Intra-Oral Photography

We have the ability to use a videocamera on a patient’s mouth and capture images of teeth and gums. This allows us to diagnose problem areas and view the images under magnification, helping to identify cracked teeth and broken fillings.

Crowns and Bridges

A crown is a lab-created “cap” that serves as a stable covering for a tooth. It fits over a tooth or dental implant. Crowns restore a tooth’s strength, function and appearance. Basically, a crown becomes a new outer layer for a tooth. Crowns are used for several reasons. Following a root canal procedure, crowns are used to protect the remaining tooth and provide function. They are used to cover a tooth that has large fillings, if the tooth structure has weakened. A bridge entails two crowns that go over two anchoring teeth with artificial teeth between, in order to fill in a gap created by missing teeth. A crown may be used with an implant to replace a lost tooth. Crowns can protect teeth with cracks and cover teeth that are discolored, chipped or poorly shaped. Crowns are created in a lab based on molds of teeth and gums. They are fabricated of various materials, depending of the strength requirement and desired appearance. Crowns can be made of porcelain, metal, such as gold, or a combination of materials.

Dental Implants

Unlike bridges, dental implants need no supporting, adjacent teeth. A dental implant is an artificial tooth implanted into the jawbone. It is generally made of titanium and covered with a porcelain crown or bridge to give the appearance of a real tooth. Implants are very durable and will last for many years. Dental implants can restore smiles, even when natural teeth are lost. The success rate for implants is a remarkable 98% for the lower and 91% for the upper. Many people who consider implants have removable, conventional dentures. These patients experience a significant improvement on their ability to chew food comfortably afterwards.

Bondings

Bonding is a relatively simple, mercury-free, solution for repairing discolored, cracked or chipped teeth. It can also be used to fill in gaps between teeth. With bonding, a resin composite is applied to a tooth, then smoothed into the appropriate shape, color and texture.

Veneers

Dental veneers, or laminates, are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored material designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve appearance. These shells are bonded to the teeth and can change color, size, shape or length. Veneers can hide stains and chips and can correct misalignments, as well. Veneers can create a straight, white beautiful smile in weeks.

Tooth Whitening

We offer customized upper and lower bleaching trays, made in our own lab, for you to take home and use at your own convenience. We carry several strengths of bleaching gel and will help decide what strength will be the best option for you.

Orthodontics

Invisalign

Invisalign is a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners made especially for you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and practically invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. As you progress through the series of aligners, they will gradually shift your teeth into place. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. Most people won’t even notice that you are straightening your teeth. Visit our office to find out if Invisalign is right for you.

Traditional Braces

Conventional metal braces, the most common type, consist of high-grade stainless steel. Today’s braces are smaller, more comfortable and attractive, plus you can choose the color of elastics that suit you.

Removable Dentures

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing. Partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.

Complete Dentures

Complete dentures can be either conventional or immediate. Made after teeth have been extracted and the gum tissue has begun to heal, the conventional denture is ready for placement in the mouth about 2-3 months after teeth have been removed.

Unlike conventional dentures, immediate dentures are made in advance and can be positioned as soon as the teeth have been extracted. As a result, the wearer does not have to be without teeth during the healing period. However, bones and gums shrink over time, especially during the healing process, and, generally, should only be considered a temporary solution until a complete denture can be made.

Partial Dentures

A removable partial denture consists of replacement teeth attached to a gum-colored base, which is connected by metal framework that holds the denture in the mouth. Partial dentures are used when one or more natural teeth are missing. Not only does a partial denture fill in the space created by missing teeth, but it prevents other teeth from changing position.
